My 21-Day Journey with the Miracle Morning Routine: Insights and Reflections

Welcome to episode 15 of My Inside World, The Coaching Project. In this episode, I dive into my 21-day experience with the Miracle Morning Routine (MMR), a powerful practice created by Hal Elrod. The Miracle Morning Routine is built on six foundational steps, easily remembered by the acronym SAVERS: Silence, Affirmations, Visualization, Exercise, Reading, and Scribing. The full recommended practice duration is one hour, but I found that the real magic lies in its flexibility and the personal insights it offers.

The Breakdown of My 21-Day Experience:

Over the course of 21 days, I committed to integrating the SAVERS steps into my daily routine. I managed to complete all six steps on 14 of those days, giving me a 66% success rate, which I find encouraging. On the seven days when I couldn't complete the entire routine, I still made sure to do at least half of the steps. This means I engaged with the SAVERS process in some form 100% of the time, which is a significant takeaway for me.

The days I didn't complete the full routine were often due to logistical challenges, such as not being able to visit the gym or my usual coffeeshop for Exercise, Reading, and Scribing. This experience highlighted the importance of adaptability. I realized that by adjusting my environment, such as choosing to do these activities at home, I could make the MMR more foolproof. However, I also recognized that life happens, and missing a few steps now and then doesn't diminish the overall impact of the practice.

Key Insights and Takeaways

1. Flexibility and Customization:

One of the most valuable lessons from my 21-day journey was the ease with which the SAVERS routine can be customized. There is no strict rule on how long you need to spend on each step, and the practice can be tailored to fit your personal goals and current state of development. For instance, my goal this year has been to approach life with more compassion and gentleness towards myself. As such, I allowed myself to mark SAV (Silence, Affirmations, Visualization) as complete even if I only spent a few seconds on each, provided I did so with intentionality. This approach worked especially well during a family vacation, where my routine was naturally disrupted.

2. The Power of Small, Consistent Practices:

Throughout this journey, I found that the true benefit of the MMR lies not in perfection but in consistency. Even on days when I couldn't do the full routine, the small, consistent practices—like saying affirmations—had a profound impact on my mindset. These practices, though brief, ripple through your day, setting a positive tone and helping you stay aligned with your goals.

3. Integrating SAVERS into Daily Life:

The SAVERS steps are easy to remember, integrate, and track. Even during the disruption of a family vacation, I was able to maintain this routine to some extent, which speaks to its adaptability. While I tracked my progress using an app during this 21-day challenge, I realized that even without tracking, the practice had become a natural part of my daily life.

Conclusion

In conclusion, my 21-day journey with the Miracle Morning Routine has been a deeply enriching experience. I've enjoyed incorporating the three new elements—Silence, Affirmations, and Visualization—into my daily routine, and I plan to continue practicing SAVERS, even if I don't track it as meticulously. The flexibility, ease of integration, and the powerful impact of small, consistent actions make the MMR a valuable tool for anyone looking to enhance their daily life. I'll be recommending it to my clients, especially those seeking to jump-start or refine their existing routines.

This experience has reaffirmed that the value of any routine lies not in rigid adherence but in the way it can be personalized to support your unique journey. I encourage you to explore the Miracle Morning Routine and see how it can be adapted to fit your life, bringing greater focus, clarity, and fulfillment to your days.
